Whenever I don't have anything better to do, I try to think of Clinton's
accomplishments:
1. Foreign Policy
(policy or polls I see)
His meddling in Israeli politics has blown a chance for peace between the Israelis
and Palestinians.
India and Pakistan have developed nuclear weapons
He destroyed the coalition created by Bush in the Persian Gulf
2. Military
He has demoralized the military with his "don't ask, don't tell", he has
expanded the military obligations to 100 foreign countries while under-manning and under
equipping them.
3. Immigration
Opened the flood gates prior to his reelection--it is inefficient and corrupt
4. Budget
Americans are paying about 48 cents out of every dollar they earn for taxes and the
government is spending the Social Security trust funds. The Republican majority in
Congress (1st in 40 years) deserves the credit Clinton is taking for the economy
5. The Economy
Alan Greenspan has been keeping inflation in check. However, the Federal Reserve is
putting money into the economy. All the increased debt has created money for the economy.
The down side is that personal bankruptcy is at an all time high and personal debt is
higher than ever. This will inevitably create a recession
6 Trade policies
Devastating effect on farmers whose plight is now further aggravated by the
collapse of Southeast Asia's bubble. The trade deficits translate into lost jobs.
Government figures are misleading because they reflect neither low wages nor part-time
employment.
Now would someone please explain just what the polls are showing approval of?
